Autism spectrum care in Delhi and online

Autism is a lifelong difference in how a person communicates, relates to others and experiences the world. Every autistic child is different, and support works best when it starts from the child's strengths and needs.

Dr. Aditya VohraMBBS, MD (Psychiatry), Psychiatrist in New Delhi

An early assessment helps families understand their child and find the right support at home and at school.

Common signs

  • Delayed speech, or speech used in unusual ways
  • Little eye contact, or not responding to their name
  • Preferring to play alone, or finding it hard to share interests
  • A strong need for routine, and distress at change
  • Repetitive movements, or intense and focused interests
  • Being very sensitive, or under-sensitive, to sound, touch or light

When to see a psychiatrist

See a psychiatrist if you have concerns about your child's speech, social development or behaviour. You do not need a referral to ask.

In danger right now? Call 112, or Tele-MANAS on 14416. Outside India, call your local emergency number.

How he can help

Assessment involves the parents and time with the child. Support can include guidance for the family, working with therapists and the school, and care for related difficulties such as sleep, anxiety or attention.
