Anxiety and panic care in Delhi and online

Worry is a normal part of life. Anxiety becomes a problem when it is constant, out of proportion or hard to switch off, and when it starts to decide what you do and what you avoid.

Dr. Aditya VohraMBBS, MD (Psychiatry), Psychiatrist in New Delhi

Panic attacks are sudden waves of intense fear with a racing heart, breathlessness or dizziness. They feel frightening, but they can be understood and treated.

Common signs

  • Worrying most days about many different things
  • Overthinking and finding it hard to switch off
  • Restlessness, irritability or feeling on edge
  • Trouble falling or staying asleep
  • A racing heart, tight chest, sweating or trembling
  • Sudden panic attacks, sometimes out of nowhere
  • Avoiding places, people or situations because of fear

When to see a psychiatrist

See a psychiatrist if anxiety is present most days, if panic attacks keep coming back, or if fear is making you avoid work, study, travel or people.

In danger right now? Call 112, or Tele-MANAS on 14416. Outside India, call your local emergency number.

How he can help

He starts by understanding what sets off the anxiety and how it affects your body, sleep and day. A plan can include ways to manage worry and panic, therapy with a psychologist, and medicine when it will help.

  1. 1

    Ask for a time

Fill in the short form below, or call or write. Say whether you would like to meet online or in person, and how soon.

  2. 2

    Confirm the slot

The clinic team confirms a time and tells you the fee before anything is fixed.

  3. 3

    First consultation

An unhurried conversation about what is happening, how long it has been going on and what you want to change. Bring any earlier prescriptions or reports.

  4. 4

    A plan you understand

Together we agree on next steps. That can combine medicine, therapy with a psychologist and regular follow-up, explained in plain words.

In person or online

Timings: Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm IST, by appointment. Closed on Sundays.

Questions

Are panic attacks dangerous?

A panic attack feels frightening but is not dangerous in itself. It is still worth a check, both to rule out physical causes and to learn how to stop attacks from returning.

Are medicines for anxiety addictive?

Some medicines can cause dependence if taken for a long time, and others do not. He explains each option, its benefits and its risks, so you can decide together.
